At EAP, our goal is to save “at risk” horses before
they go through the slaughter pipeline.

Through our programs we :

  1. Assist horse owners who have fallen on hard times, keep their horses.
  2. Assist owners in keeping their horses until a Foster home can be provided.
  3. Re-homing assistance when there is an immediate need.
  4. Rescue at-risk horses from auction.

“stable homes” assistance programs

Our goal is to help horses who are in caring loving and responsible homes remain in their homes.

Our programs are need-based program to fill a temporary need for hay, boarding, vet or farrier costs in order to help owners keep their  horses. We require potential recipients to provide background on the situation and references (such as farriers, veterinarians, etc.). Along with the application, we require an on-site visit and, when needed, we will work with owners to develop a plan to continue to care for their horses once the assistance period ends.

We have all been in situations where we just need a little help hand to get us through. Upon approval we can provide hay for up to two months to help qualified owners through short term emergencies. This program is intended to help horse owners who are in immediate need of short term assistance due to unforeseen emergency situations.

Designed for horse owners who have fallen on hard times due to loss of employment, illness or other short term emergency, upon approval, EAP will help horse owners with the cost of board for up to two months.

At times, we run into situations where a horse is in need of veterinary assistance and it becomes a huge burden to the horse owner. Through our vet and farrier assistance, we work with local professionals to provide sliding scale care. Depending on need, we will work with the horse owners vet or farrier to create a payment plan that is workable and realistic.

On a case by case basis, EAP will provide a grant to horse owners who can show an immediate need to cover vet or farrier costs.
