Meet Bayou – A Gentle Giant in Need of Your Support

Bayou’s journey began in 2016, when we rescued him from an auction in Turlock. At 14 years old, this stunning bay gelding has endured more than his fair share of hardships. Despite his beauty and size—standing proudly at almost 16 hands—Bayou has a condition called kissing spine, which makes him unrideable.

Though he can’t be ridden, Bayou has so much more to offer. He’s a kind-hearted, sweet horse who’s slowly learning to trust again. While he’s still a little unsure at times, his gentle spirit shines through.

Due to his back condition, Bayou will remain a permanent resident at our sanctuary, where he can live a life free from pain and fear. But Bayou needs your help to ensure he gets the ongoing care and love he deserves.
